For those wondering, Kill All Monsters pages continue to be created! Michael continues to write them. James continues to edit them. I continue to draw them. Ed… well, the pages haven’t got to him yet, but he stands at the ready. Look for a big announcement about the new home of KAM in the New Year.
Until then, the pages will continue to be made under a veil of secrecy…
Thanks for your patience!
Just to make sure you guys aren’t worried about the status of Kill All Monsters!, I’m posting a shot from a rough page layout I’m about to ink. The plan is to have the whole 250 page she-bang done by May 2012…. for a very special event. Michael and I can’t talk about it yet but we are very excited about the future home of KAM. More info will come much later in the year. Until then, rest assured that we are moving with KAM and the whole thing will be ready for you in 2012!
This is currently on my Cintiq… some Kill All Monsters! action is shaping up! Inking will commence in 3…2…1…
Like every Friday, there are 3 new Kill All Monsters! pages up. Go HERE and check them out.
This is what’s on my Cintiq this afternoon.
Here’s what was on my Cintiq today. Kill All Monsters! page in progress.
It’s Friday! New KAM! pages are up HERE!
Ok. Some news. Steve Niles (of 30 Days of Night fame) has singled out Kill All Monsters! as his web comic of the week in his Robot 6 column, Creator Spotlight. Awesome!!! Thanks, Steve!!
And KAM! got a very nice shout out at Exonauts. Thanks, Jay!
Also, I will be in Seattle this weekend attending the Emerald City Comicon. I will have the limited edition Kill All Monsters! ashcan available for purchase! Drop by booth #610 and pick up a copy. When you do, you will be entitled to have an original KAM! sketch card (while they last)! I hope to see you there!
So, if things are as they should be, the limited edition Kill All Monsters! ashcan will debut this weekend at ECCC! And, as a special “thank you”, there will be some free KAM! sketch cards for the first few copies sold. I’m not sure how many I’ll have for the show, so get there early! You can find the book at the New Reliable Press booth #610.
I hope to see you all at the show!
Some more Kill All Monsters! rough layouts. I’m trying to get ahead of schedule on these because I know that time is going to be hard to find next week as I get ready to go to ECCC! I won’t have a table but KAM! letterer, Ed Brisson, has graciously offered to find some display space for the Kill All Monsters! ashcan on his New Reliable Press table. Thanks, Ed!
I hope to see you all in Seattle next weekend and make sure to drop by and have a look at the limited edition Kill All Monsters! ashcan comic!
Here is that previous panel but with the initial rough sketch(which is the blue in the middle image) and final inks to help illustrate my process better. From here it will get grayscaled and toned, in Photoshop.
One of the few panels I actually penciled in pencil. I’ve been doing a lot of the “penciling” of Kill All Monsters on my Cintiq, which, being 100% digital, eliminates the use of paper and pencils and erasers. But, sometimes, the process of drawing begs for something more tactile in nature… so I broke out the graphite and 24lb bond paper. I did a very rough drawing in the computer and then printed it out in blue. I penciled on top of that and then I scanned it in and pasted it into its place on the digital rough layout. I’ll then print it all out in blue and ink over top all that.
