Kill All Monsters Print (colour)

Here is the colour version of the Kill All Monsters convention print, coloured by the incredibly talented Paul Little!

I was extremely lucky to nab Paul Little (colourist for many comics including Xenoholics (Image) and Bomb Queen (Image)) in time to get the print ready for the Image Comics Expo, this weekend. Paul coloured a short story I drew for Zombie Bomb! a while back and I loved what he had done with it. It was a no-brainer to ask him to colour the KAM print, as well as a few other prints that I will be posting here, next week.

I will have colour and B&W Kill All Monsters prints for the Image show, this weekend. Ed and I will be at table #306. We hope to see you there!

Also in convention news… some awesome news was given to KAM letterer/Murder Book writer Ed Brisson, yesterday. Ed and I got a table for the Emerald City Comicon! I’m very excited about that! Ed and I (and maybe Johnnie Christmas) will have a Murder Book print made up in time for the show! More news on that, as the show gets closer.

Kill All Monsters Print (black & white)

So here it is, the black & white Kill All Monsters convention print! These prints are 14″ x 11″ on heavy cardstock with a glossy finish. There will only be 50 of them printed. Each will be hand numbered and signed. I will have these for sale at the Image Comic Expo this coming weekend! I will also have the coloured version of this print at the show, too! Drop by here tomorrow to get a look at that version!

Kill All Monsters Sketchcards

Here are a couple of Kill All Monsters sketchcards I did recently for people who purchased a copy of the Kill All Monsters limited ashcan from my store (see link at the top left side bar). Both cards are of Akemi, one of the main pilots of the series.

This one is a little more experimental than what I usually do, but I really liked the way it turned out.And this one is more of the traditional way I draw.

I have a bunch more sketchcards to share but I’ll pace myself.

New Monster Design

I discovered an awesome tutorial page on the Zeng Zhu Design site. There are many excellent tutorials about design creating and general illustration tips. Very informative.

I tried the silhouette design process tip to help create this monster design. I’m not 100% jazzed about this design but I definitely thought the silhouette process of starting a design was a great new way for me to generate ideas for creatures.

Behind The Curtain

For those wondering, Kill All Monsters pages continue to be created! Michael continues to write them. James continues to edit them. I continue to draw them. Ed… well, the pages haven’t got to him yet, but he stands at the ready. Look for a big announcement about the new home of KAM in the New Year.

Until then, the pages will continue to be made under a veil of secrecy…

Thanks for your patience!

Sound of Thunder

Just to make sure you guys aren’t worried about the status of Kill All Monsters!, I’m posting a shot from a rough page layout I’m about to ink. The plan is to have the whole 250 page she-bang done by May 2012…. for a very special event. Michael and I can’t talk about it yet but we are very excited about the future home of KAM. More info will come much later in the year. Until then, rest assured that we are moving with KAM and the whole thing will be ready for you in 2012!
